The Gir trip
All of grade 12 was taken on a school trip to the Gir forest from 2nd November to 5th November and the result was a collection of unforgettable memories. Some of the highlights of the trip included a night trek on the first day at the resort. The night walk was terrifyingly wonderful with a once in a lifetime kind of opportunity to stargaze under the clear jungle night sky. It was surreal!
Another highlight of the trip was the morning jungle safari that the students were taken to, the next morning. Students saw some majestic lions and lionesses and enjoyed the serene jungle sunrise.
Lastly, students loved the thrilling chhakda ride that they were taken for the next evening. In a nutshell, the Gir trip was a memorable last school trip.
A trip to Jodhpur and Jaisalmer
On 19th of October, the students of grade 7 and 8 Intl. and 8 ICSE departed for Jodhpur and Jaisalmer. The trip was organized by Positive 7.
The highlight of the train journey was that the students played board games, and interacted with each other instead of being immersed in mobile phones and other gadgets.
In Jodhpur students visited the Umaid Bhawan Palace, the current residence of the Maharaja of Jodhpur and the Mehrangarh fort thus getting a mesmerizing peek into the diverse culture of Jodhpur both old and new.
The Sun City (Jodhpur) offered a great insight into the history of the brave Rajputs. The bus rides were very enjoyable and teachers too forgot their age and relived their childhood.
In Jaisalmer camel rides on sand dunes with the scenic sunset in the background was perfect almost straight out of a fantasy story. The setting sun made the sand look like glittering gold. The magical evenings ended with DJ nights which were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. The jeep rides, the Rajasthani folk dance transported the students back in time.
Each day, new knowledge and new sights were gained and viewed. They also visited the Jaisalmer Fort, the only fort which is open for 24 hours a day, the War Museum, a small tribute to the brave country heroes, and the Fossil Park. The trip was a great mix of fun and education.
It is true that what one learns by seeing and enjoying is remembered forever and that travelling is the best teacher. The memories of this trip will be cherished forever.
Rajpura trip: Grade 7
There is so much to learn - inside and outside the classroom. In fact our experiences outside the classroom and outside our regular environment are invaluable in the long run. This idea was borne to fact by the recent trip to Rajpura with Positive 7.
In the 2-3 days that students stayed there, they went on a trek through the sand dunes and dry rocky forests, visited local villages and experienced glimpses of rural life, enjoyed yummy cuisine and went on an enjoyable cable ride.
However what was equally important was that the students and the teachers and volunteers accompanying bonded as a team.
There were friendships made that will last for life through many more such visits and experiences.
Somebody has indeed truly said - travel broadens the mind.
