73rd Republic Day Celebration
Come January and Anand Niketan Satellite Campus reverberates with the spirit of myriad sporting activities & conquests culminating the year long journey of unravelling and understanding the importance of fair play. Aptly titled “Challenges”, the annual sports day is usually held on three separate days-24th January (Pre- primary section), 25th January (Grade 1 to 4 ) & 26th January (Grade 5 to 12 ).
The tiny tots from Pre K to Grade 4 regale the audience not only with their mesmerizing fitness displays but also with their colourful fancy races combining fun and skill. Right from the enthusiastic march in, march past and the majestic lighting of the torch, the young students do it all with great elan & aplomb. Challenges on 26th Jan proves to be a double celebration – of sportsmanship, camaraderie, self- discipline and the spirit of nationalism & patriotism by the students.
This year, due to the Covid-19 restrictions , the students could not be physically in school but they did pay a virtual tribute to the martyrs responsible for our nation’s freedom and decision makers responsible for the Constitution of India. Their celebration included role plays, debates, poetry writing and illustrations.
The staff and heads of the school assembled in the majestic lawn and unfurled the Tricolour with great nostalgia, heralding the historic birth of the Indian Republic 73 years back. The inspiring day celebrated what is common to all of us , that is our Indian-ness.
‘This year's celebrations may be muted due to the pandemic, but the spirit is as strong as ever. We are immensely fortunate that the Constituent Assembly which prepared the document included some of the best minds of their generation. They were the leading lights of our great Freedom Struggle. India is an ancient civilisation but a young republic. For us, nation-building is a constant endeavour and that’s what we want to teach our students- the leaders of tomorrow, said Ms Nashy Chauhan, Director, Anand Niketan Satellite Campus.
