Connections & Creations
On the 22nd of December 2019, Anand Niketan Satellite Campus celebrated its annual carnival and exhibition of fun combined with knowledge; ‘Connections’. The theme for Connections & Creations 2019; ‘La La Land- Happiness Galore’, showcased the varied ways in which happiness is and can be expressed. The students demonstrated their imagination and pushed the boundaries of their creative freedom through the myriad languages of dance, music, games , role plays, food and many other surprise elements.
The students not only reflected the way and means by which happiness is found in today’s modern world but also the happiness found decades ago in our cultural food, music and games. They, along with the staff of the school exhibited the older methods of cooking delicious food as well as their own indigenous games, strategies for making life easier and happiness in designing and creating their own fashion. The re-creation of the entire cultural section of old Ahmedabad- Amdavad Ni Pol, educated the students about the meaning of true happiness which prevailed decades ago in close knit families. It also filled the teachers and parents with nostalgia, allowing them to revisit their childhood.
After eating loads of delicious food brought to us by Flavours, the students gathered for a final event; ‘the drum circle’. Students were seated in a circle and given an individual drum. Through this upbeat session, students not only learned more about the instrument but also learned rhythm and effective teamwork skills. Through playing the instrument, they discovered the joys of music and the importance of synchronised beats. With that, the cherished ‘Connections’ came to an end and the students, parents and teachers left with a smile in the freezing winter evening.
