Save Our Rivers, Save Our Heritage
In the course of his nationwide campaign to raise awareness and understanding about India’s slowly depleting rivers, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev reached Ahmedabad where he was accorded a grand reception at the Sabarmati Riverfront.
Many events were organized with Anand Niketan group of schools putting up a spectacular performance that highlighted the grim situation, in a dance performance aptly titled "Listen To The River, It Has A Tale To Tell."
Through a unique fusion of classical dance, combining Bharatanatyam and Kalaripayattu and scintillating classical music the students brought home the river’s plea, beseeching the people to act before it is too late, chiding and reminding that it was we humans who benefit the most from the rivers, yet ironically we have contributed most towards its destruction.
The performance depicted the wanton and unending destruction of nature by mankind and the resurrection, if we were to realize our mistake and make appropriate amends.
The spectacular performance was choreographed by D. Padmakumar. Speaking to this reporter, he said that the children must be complimented for juggling their studies and dance practices and putting up such a stellar performance at such short notice.
The programme was attended by the Sadhguru himself along with the honourable Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani, Education minister Mr. Bhupendrasinh Chudasama and a host of other luminaries. Anand Niketan was awarded a special certificate for being the top school and getting the most number of people to pledge their support to the cause.
The following morning Sadhguru, much to the delight of the students of Anand Niketan Satellite Campus, visited the school.
He was profuse in appreciating the students and the school's efforts and spent time with the children, interacting with them and flying kites with them. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Kamal Mangal, Trustee, Anand Niketan Group of schools said that it was an honour to welcome Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev to the school and the school has been blessed by the presence of such a saintly and visionary guru.
He said that the situation of our rivers is truly grim and that if we followed the Sadhguru’s river rejuvenation plan our depleting rivers would start flowing again. To have our mighty rivers flowing again is the best legacy we can pass on to our future generations, he concluded.
