Traffic Awareness Campaign
Keeping with the tradition of championing myriad social causes balanced expertly with their academics, the students of Anand Niketan Satellite Campus took over the streets on Saturday, 27th October '18 with an aim to support the Traffic police by spreading 'Traffic and Road Safety Awareness' amongst the travellers and commuters.
The mega campaign started with the seed of an idea by the School Director, Ms Nashy Chauhan, who felt the need to appreciate and acknowledge the recent successful traffic drive by the Ahmedabad Traffic Police. She shared the idea with the high school students who enthusiastically supported it and took the plan further.
The proposed plan was then presented to the Ahmedabad Traffic Police who gave their immediate consent and approval for the same and also gave their inputs and whole hearted support.
Come Saturday morning and the commuters on Iskcon Cross Roads, Gormoh Cross roads, Croma Cross Roads, RTO circle and Swastik Cross Roads and Nehru Bridge were in for a pleasant surprise.
Each person without a helmet was advised on the dangers associated with driving without a helmet and was presented with a plastic make shift helmet as a reminder and a word of caution. The traffic warriors of Anand Niketan Satellite Campus even encouraged many of them to remove their helmets from the boot of their vehicles and wear them.
Not only this, they also braved the heat and showcased a variety of placards with slogans supporting traffic and road safety awareness. They also went a step forward and requested people using mobile phones in their cars to use headphones and exercise their own safety.
It was indeed heart - warming to see not only the traffic police supporting them generously but it was also heartening to observe the commuters on the roads listening to the advice given by the children and following them too.
"The entire mission was a huge success in collaboration with the Ahmedabad Traffic Police for scaffolding our campaign. It is the duty and responsibility of every citizen to support them by abiding to the rules and regulations. My students, the future leaders, are always passionate about contributing to the society and this particular cause is definitely the 'dire need of the day'. I hope each one of us gets inspired by their enthusiasm and passion and follows the rules laid down by the Police for everyone's safety"
